Dr. Stacy H. Young named president at Manchester University
Montcalm Community College President Stacy H. Young, Ph.D., has been named the 16th president at Manchester University in Indiana. Her first day at Manchester will be July 1.
Dr. Young joined MCC on Jan. 1, 2020, as the college’s sixth president and first female to serve in the institution’s top leadership position.
During her tenure, Dr. Young has successfully led MCC in developing and implementing a three-year strategic plan aimed at growing enrollment, improving student success and access, enhancing facilities and engaging our community.
“I love MCC,” Dr. Young said. “It has been a pleasure to serve, working alongside a team of faculty, staff, Board of Trustees and MCC Foundation Board members who share a passion for our community and for enhancing our student’s educational experience.”
While Dr. Young said she is sad to leave the community which has become home to her and her family, she is excited to return to her alma mater, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She also holds an MBA degree and a doctoral degree in leadership.
“I never dreamed I would have an opportunity to lead the institution that started my passion for higher education. Manchester truly changed my life,” Dr. Young said.
MCC Board of Trustees Chair Karen Carbonelli said she happy for Dr. Young but disappointed for MCC.
“Stacy has been such a dynamic leader and has headed the college in a great direction,” Carbonelli said. “I am so delighted with what she has done. She has energized the whole staff. She will be missed.”
MCC’s Board of Trustees will be meeting to discuss next steps and that information will be forthcoming.
Serving students in education for more than 24 years, Dr. Young has worked in a variety of roles including adjunct faculty, full-time faculty, chairperson, Dean and president. She also serves as a Peer Reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission and as a member of the Michigan Education Trust (MET) Board of Directors. In addition to her formal roles, she enjoys speaking in the community and serving others.
