MCC offers noncredit classes in January
Learn about suicide prevention, forming an LLC, and candle making during Montcalm Community College’s January noncredit courses.

Learn general skills in suicide prevention, cost-free, in this upcoming noncredit course taught by professionals from Corewell Health. QPR training teaches general community members to recognize and respond to mental health crises using the approach of Question, Persuade and Refer. The 1.5-hour training will include information on the unique challenges individuals face that can lead to stress, depression and suicide, examples of implementing each QPR component with someone at risk for suicide and information on how to help someone at risk of suicide. The class is on Jan. 21 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is free.
Ready to launch your business as a sole proprietor or LLC? Been putting off the paperwork? The SBDC will discuss business entities and explain the documents needed to form and register a business, including Articles of Organization and Employer Identification Number (EIN). We will also cover basic bookkeeping procedures and the tax implications of your new business, as well as good business practices. The class is on Jan. 21 from 6 to 7 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is free.
Learn the methods and techniques necessary to make candles at home. Each participant will be given written directions and the materials to pour two candles. One candle will be made from 100% beeswax using a silicon mold. The second candle will be made from paraffin wax using a metal mold. The beeswax used is pure and is a natural golden color. Scents and color will be added to the paraffin candle selected by the participant. A second short session will be necessary to unmold and decorate the paraffin candle. The first session will take place on Jan. 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus, while the second session will be Jan. 29. The cost is $40.
