NSC database breach
The National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) was one of many entities recently impacted by a data security event involving the MOVEit Transfer tool.
NSC provides educational reporting, data exchange, verification, and research services to higher education institutions. Thousands of higher education and financial organizations around the country transfer data through NSC and could be impacted by this event.
Montcalm Community College shares student enrollment data with the National Student Clearinghouse. Some of the data colleges share with NSC includes personally identifiable information. NSC has not yet identified what sensitive information was accessed.
MCC has received notice that our data may be affected and is actively monitoring this situation. We are prepared to address any concerns that may arise. At this time, we do not know the extent of the data that was compromised. We remain committed to thoroughly assessing any potential impacts on students and alumni. This cyber security event did not impact MCC’s network or internal systems.
We will continue to gather information and give you any updates as soon as possible.
