Swimming Lessons
MCC Recreation & Fitness Center offers several types of swimming lessons, including group and private lessons, for varying age and skill levels. All swim lessons are taught by MCC instructors who are American Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructors (WSI).
All sessions are 6 weeks long and are held at the Pool/Activities Building on MCC's Sidney campus. Participant must be the required age by the first day of class. Participants may not make up missed classes.

Parent/Child Aquatics
6 Months - 3 Years
American Red Cross parent and child aquatics familiarize young children to the water and prepares them to learn to swim. This course gives parents safety information and teaches techniques to help orient their children to the water.
3-5 Years
Preschool Aquatics, consisting of three levels, is an Integral part of the overall Red Cross instructional aquatic and water safety program. This course promotes developmentally appropriate learning of fundamental water safety and aquatic skills by young children 3-5 years of age.
Ages 5-15
Levels will all run at the same time with multiple instructors. Children will be tested and placed appropriately according to their skills during the first class.
Ages 15 and older
The Master Swim program allows swimmers to progress at their own pace, mastering one set of skills before moving on to the next. Developed to meet the needs of adult learners, build your skills and swim more efficiently whether you're in it for fun or competition.
1) Learning the Basics: earn basic swimming strokes and skills needed to stay safe and help keep others safe in and around the water.
2) Improving Skills and Swimming Strokes: Participants will gain proficiency in basic aquatic skills and the six basic swimming strokes.
3) Swimming for Fitness: Participants will learn to refine their front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke and turns to build endurance.
Semi-Private Lessons
Each 30-minute semi-private lesson is designed to fit individual needs of swimmers of all ages, but with similar skill levels. These lessons are scheduled 2 students with 1 instructor.
The cost is $120 for this six-week course.

Private swim lessons
Each 30-minute private lesson is designed to fit individual needs of swimmers of all ages and skill levels. These lessons are scheduled when other activities are not occurring in the pool.
The cost is $75 for six classes during this time frame.

Lifeguard Certification and Review Classes
These classes are open to ages 15 and up.
Learn how to effectively prevent and respond to water emergencies with the American Red Cross lifeguard training. Our courses are designed to arm you with the skills and knowledge to prepare you for a variety of scenarios in and around the water. With our lifeguard training, you will learn how quick response times and effective preparation are vital to being a lifeguard while also understanding the crucial elements in helping to prevent drownings and injuries.
